Hey, people....... cut the girl some slack, will ya??!!!
I'd much rather see Sarah posting
here than discussing the merits of double pearl switch-stitching with #9 needles in the rarely seen 'Hotchkiss' position with the blue rinse set!!
Call 'em anything you like in front of me, Sarah..... I'm a big man - I can take it!!

You obviously don't knit, Shane........ it's a secret position closely guarded by aficianados and those 'in the know'.
Hence the fact that it's rarely seen!!

Thank you Aitch.
Thank you for being so lovely and positive most of you.
I have discovered what the "turning slowly" means. I am surprised at how unkind some of you are. What is the purpose of trying to make me feel small, or having a laugh at my expense?
Whether you intended to or not, that is how one or two of you have made me feel, and that is twice in a row.

Gentlemen........time to apologise to the lady! Let's all make her feel welcome. Sometimes our sense of humor doesn't transmit via the written word. I know you guys didn't mean to offend

I am truly sorry, Sarah...it was a revival of a joke in another thread...
"Slowly I turn" is a reference to an old vaudeville skit. I'm not sure if this is the meaning you found. It was intended, not to cause injury, but to elicit a chuckle.

One of the inherent weaknesses in trying to interpret text in forums is that the viewer does not get the benefit of the speaker's vocal tone. Emoticons do help to some degree but even then comments can be read in a manner that was not intended by the sender.
While I have made note of this before, I recall writing to a forum to thank a poster very much for his comments and his quick reply was something close to "well you don't have to be sarcastic about it." So there you go.
I experimented for a time with an auditory chat line format which was quite fun, although with four or five people on line at a time it was pandemonium. Private messages sent to the sender can sometimes be helpful in attempting to ascertain the motivation or tone associated with specific posts.
For the most part, however, things work quite well.

Exactly. This forum is way more friendly than most, so 99% of the time, if you perceive any jerkiness, it is most likely just one of those things that translated from thought to keys poorly.
If you want to see a really nasty forum, check out vgchat.com. Those people are (for themost part, I think) just wastes of life.
Back to the strings... I'm going to search for something I posted once that may help with 12 strings. I'll be back in a flash... J
