The photo was taken in February, 2008 and was just recently sent to me by a friend. The last ice is now off of the north side of my lawn but only disappeared a little over a week ago.

I've already mowed the grass twice and it needs it again. And I'm at 42 north.

Aitch, wonderful picture - reminds me of the course I played back in '73 in Mesa AZ where you drove the ball and the roadrunners all scattered!

Based purely on the power of observation during my visit to your beautiful country, those bloody things are normally sleeping all day long. What happened did you make a super spectacular drive into their water hole and they all got up to take a look?

You're pretty much on the money, Brian. If it's hot and sunny they'll find a shady spot and lie there for hours until it cools down. If that shady spot happens to be a bunker you're in real trouble if you hit one in there..... roos are very 'space possessive' and they don't like the intrusion. They spit and snarl and will even attack you!!

We have a local rule.... if you belt a low skimmer and manage to hit two roos the first shout in the bar is on you!

Franlky, I'd rather a hole in one than two roos in one...........

Well, yeah, but you had to see the course. There were irrigation ditches going through it too. Quaint old course I REALLY doubt is there anymore, and I can't remember where it exactly was. I also saw the "cowboy' course out in Apache Junction that was just open desert with grass tees and grass greens - everything else was open desert with a lot of cholla cacti. Then my brother and I played the Tempe city course by the buttes at the north end - Arapaho IIRC - where the fairways were HARD grass and the rough was open desert. A usual 220 yard drive went about 400+ yards! You had to be careful not to overdrive the next hole's green!

We have a deer family that we feed fruit to all summer...85 in the shade here today...

Seeing this photo prompts me to share the view in my yard this morning. Pelicans- deer of the beach!

John H., I have been asked to ask you what camera that was taken with. She said it looks like a painting, and that is just from the jpg!

Just a little tiny Nikon CoolPix S1. This thing has turned out some excellent shots and I take it places where I wouldn't consider taking bigger gear.
