Check your mute, Tim. It might be just a little bit too high on the E side so that it impedes that one string's movement very slightly.

Nah mate, the mute is nowhere near. Could it be the nut? Fractionally too wide a groove for the string prehaps?

Tim, loosen the E string right up and make sure there is no twist to it from the tuner all the way to the string anchor hole. A twist in the string will kill sustain and make it appear dead or muted.

Any time you change to a different type of strings you should check the truss rod adjustment and the intonation.StoneRose wrote:Hi. I want to change strings from rounds to flats of the same guage.
