I've played a few of these, and that is exactly the phrase that came to my mind as well.

Yeah, and whats up with those people who pay thousands more for used basses made even earlier? I mean $5k for a bass made 40 years ago? What gives?!ricaddic wrote:At that price I would rather spend another 6 or 700 and get a brand new 4001C64S which I dont have yet. $1900.00 plus for a used bass, I'll pass.

Andy, you wouldn't have had to worry if you didn't like it. You could then just send it to me.bottom4 wrote:I sure do, phlemmyphlemmy wrote:mine played great. i hope the new owner loves it!
Well for one if im going to spend that money for a C64S, I have a C64 and its my favorite Rick, for one I'll take the toaster /horseshoe combo over any high gain combo, the sound suits my temperment, I have toasters in both my 4003's, even the two 4003's I traded and sold plus my 1980 4001 that I traded in also I had toasters installed.plus the C64S also has a zero fret, ask me bout my feelings toward the 75th anniversay 4003 that was extremely overpriced and the rediculous prices people are asking for them on ebay. to me there was nothing speacial about them, first im not a fan of the finish, I would rather it been finished turqouise, or teal, or something like that, no toaster, no horseshoe, just different color pick guard and TRC,I have a 06 midblu 4003, technically thats a 75th aniversary bass also it was made in 06 also, and plays as good and even better than the annis.incubus2432 wrote:sloop_john_b wrote:Yeah, and whats up with those people who pay thousands more for used basses made even earlier? ....and who would spend more for a c64 than a 4003? It's the same amount of wood and paint, why the premium?
