Thanks for the compliments.....well, except for Nate!

The flames are VERY subtle so they don't take away from the blackness of it much at all. Besides, my painter/buddy gives me great deals so it wouldn't take much to get it back to the way it was if I feel like it down the road. This may also be used for a "proper" (IMO) 5 string conversion so a refinish may be in order before too long anyway. The flames were mostly to hold me over while i decide what to do with it next. I'll be emailing Dale shortly.

I'll see if I can get a few sound clips of the preamp over the next few days and post 'em up. My playing is pretty rough though since I'm out of practice.....even rougher than usual.

Man it would be sweet if Ric would make a 5 string bass with an East 3 band active preamp ... but since they won't I'll have to "do it myself"

The pruists would probably hate it ... but then again the purists won't be buying a 5 string bass anyway so who cares what they think ... the pruists probably don't like any of the 4004 basses because they don't have toasters, horseshoes, mechanical mutes, pickup covers, pickguards, ric-o-sound, and the .0047 capacitor!

So how about Brian's 4004! Cool, huh?

Sorry, but you called it Blackened and then you have it painted green. Just goes against the name.

Not according to your sig...

Loved the Blackened look, not crazy about the flames. Can't wait to hear the active in play

When I mod my Rics I get pleasure from praise of those who like it and I get enjoy upsetting those who don't like it.

it's a win win ...

So the real question how do you like the hb1 pickups with a preamp?

The p/u's and preamp sound great together. I still have to tweak the setup and internal pots before my final opinion but I like it more and more as I noodle around.

I went to record some samples and I have, apparently, a few wiring tweaks to get things just right. I have to solder some smaller wire leads on to the p/u leads so they fit the circuit board connectors on the preamp better. Not a big deal but time is tight before RIO.

Tomorrow it's off to the drag strip to shoot for a mid-11 (my unofficial goal). Maybe it's time for some ghost flames on the GN so it still matches the Laredo.

What's your best time so far with the GN?

12.4@116 (2.1 60ft.)

The speed is there for a mid-high 11 but the traction was horrendous on radial tires.

The tune is a little better this year so the speed should be up a tad. The big improvement should come from having drag radials and a new brake system which will help me hold more boost on the line so I can launch harder. Every 1/10 of a second off the 60ft. generally equals 2/10 gained in the 1/4 mile. I should be able to knock close to 1/2 a second off the 60 ft. time so, hopefully, close to a full second total. Plus the weather here is kinda cool which is a bonus for power.....especially for a turbo car. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Back to Rics or I'll babble on and on......

And me with sigs turned off! Too confusing trying to read the forum with them showing, but then I miss all the personalizations....
