I'm familiar with that, Peter. Their very first bullet point of items which may be removed from a CP shop's storefront reads: "Content that may infringe upon the rights of a third party."
Which is a catch-all, and something to keep the door open for a removal at any time.
When I did the art for T-shirts and mugs, as well as the annual RRF calendar, a copyright notice is printed on each image in the Image Bank on their server, referring to RIC (as the owner of the designs), RRF (for the RRF logo on the shirts), and myself (as creator of the collage art). I secured advance permission from John Hall to use the images of the company's products for a finite number of T-shirts and mugs, and in fact the Rickenbacker script used on both was supplied to me by RIC's art department for this project.
I should also point out (in light of my long post above on this topic, addressing intent) that these items were and are offered for sale as non-profit items; neither RIC, RRF, nor myself sees any financial gain from these projects--the benefit is "spreading the word". Once a couple of years ago, CP sent me a sales commission, which came as a bit of a surprise. It was about $135.00, as recall. I spent it on RRF mugs!
