Interesting comments! People would go and see The Who after one member dies who played the drums but after another member dies that plays bass they decide that enough is enough.I personally saw The who in 89` without Moon and was blown away by the show.Im wondering if at that time anyone thought that they would not bother going to see The Who due to fact that Moon was no longer playing?I am a fan of the band The Who which primarily is their music,If Townsend and Daltrey are happy to carry on with another bass player im fine with that.Yeah i go and see lots of live music and vision of coarse is a part of playing live but for me its all in the sound. If The Who still sound like The Who thats all that matters. The $64 million question is Do The Who still sound the same without John Entwistle???

I saw them with Simon Phillps on drums and he was fantastic!
But to me, losing JE was the death blow. Not to mention they missed maybe one show and kept going? I mean....that's cold.

Yep! Petes still a turnip!
Instead of smashing it, why not just give it to some poor guy or gal that can't afford one!
It's not showmanship, it's just stupid....... :x
My dad and a lot of my musician friends say the same thing. I think it's stupid, too. Especially back from '64-'66 when he smashed the RM models. There would be a heck of lot more of them if he hadn't smashed them!

Smashing gear was never a smart thing to do, it was an accident first and then it became a contrived theatrical piece with shock value that quickly waned. I think that it is now a hackneyed unnecessary part of the stage act.

On the subject of replacements. You can't replace John just as you could never replace Keith. The Who were a band consisting of four incredibly talented people that were unfortunately reduced to three who made a valiant effort to continue on in the face of adversity and made a good go of it. Let's see what they can do with two. We owe them that much if only out of respect for the surviving members.
