Kustoms are cool and they're tough, and they aren't tough on you- the big ones may be heavy but they are soft! Throwing the Kustom in the van is definitely less bruise-inducing than the other amps and cases. When I was a kid the naysayers pronounced that the Naugahyde covering wouldn't hold up- but short of outright abuse, it holds up magnificently. I see great-looking 40-year-old examples all the time. The second-generation ones with the cast-metal front panels are a little better, I think, and the tremolo circuit could be switched to a Magnatone-like vibrato. I just wish I'd taken a picture at the Joe South show I saw around '68 or '69- a fairly big band, 100% *gold* Kustoms. Including the Kustom organ, played by, I think, Mrs. South. Whoa.

Kool looking amps and cabinets...never owned one though...definitely "period" pieces...I think that's why they are so popular now.
