Much thanks to John B. for posting my pictures. More will follow of my Brice Violin bass, V63, C64, F****r Jazz, and OLP/MM SR basses. I'm asking around $1200 to 1400 for the 4003. I will also replace the vintage knobs with the originals as well. to keep it as close to stock as possible. I plan on keeping the others as I use them regularly.

What years is the V63? It looks like a nice one with the longer peg head and nice guard shape.

That Monty has a Pickguardian 4003 vintage guard on it? How did you move the pickup to the 1/2" position? I also take it you added a new hole for the corner hole on that guard?

Thanks Joey! Kevin, that V63 has little history to it. It's a 1989 model. I bought it at a guitar show in Charlotte NC from Pick of The Ricks in 2003. I was so happy to get at the time,
that I didn't realize that it was a sick puppy. After playing it on the road, and having no issues, I saw that it had a nasty neck crack on the G side of the neck from the 6th fret to the 13 fret. I contacted Chris Clayton about it and he said that the bass was a trade in they found a Guitar Center store. After contacting Mark Arnquist, who told me that the bass was fixable, I decided to have it repaired. Two good friends of mine, AC Lail, and Boddy Fultz, who have worked on guitars for some Nashville stars, did the work while I was on the road. It turned out very well. The scar is still visable, as Mapleglo is hard to hide completely. But the neck is solid and stable, and it's one of the better playing basses I have. I haven't had a moment's trouble since.

My best guess is that the first owner tried to adjust the neck beyond it's tolerances and screwed it up then traded it to Guitar Center. It just took someone who really likes Ricks, and some TLC to get it up and going again.

John, that is not a Pickguardian guard. That pickguard was custom cut by Boddy Fultz for me based on the old pickguard of the V63, which was cracked over the toaster. Since I was having the V63 repaired, I thought I might as well fix that too. When I decided to move the 4003 neck pup to the 1/2" spacing. We used the V63 template.

BTW , when I had all this done to the 4003. My plan was to have a cross between the V63 and a 4003 so to speak. I've never been crazy about the 1" spacing on the neck pup.

One more thing I forgot to add. When I had these mods done to the 4003, I had no intention of ever having to sell it. Even though I can use the extra funds, part of me hates to part with it.

Randy, thanks for clarifying. I was just curious. I have also done the 1/2" spacing move to my '04 4003, using a RIC C64 guard as it fit around the RIHS surround better than the Pickguardian one. I too like the 1/2" spacing better.

Oh, and anyone need a Pickguardian 4003 vintage pickguard? Only had the toaster mounted and then fit to the bass but not left on as it was not what I wanted. 1/2" spacing and moved hole 1.
