Thanks guys... Just got back home. Now a quick shower, 3 hours to sleep, and off to work...

He really is a charming person. One of the nicest, warmest, funniest and smartest people I have ever met. I'm so looking forward to the concert! And I'm taking my 10 year old bass-playing son.

It really is a dream come true. I keep playing it back in my head...

I will post a link to the full interview as soon as we air it on Saturday. And yes, for some reason you can see the video only with IE.

I did ask about the Ric, he just said that he doesn't play it but he still has it. And then he went on to explain how a lightweight bass makes him play differently.

I guess the Ric was too heavy for him. Anything is, compared to a Hofner... And he said how much he loved the way his Hofner sounds. I thought it would be rude to ask at this point if he doesn't miss the Ric tone. So I didn't.

From where we were standing I couldn't see what amp he was using.

I know he's not into the technical stuff but he was happy to show his guitars and talk shop. This surprised me quite a bit.

That's incredible Ilan. Congrats! That'd be an amazingly special moment for almost anybody. Is there a bigger legend in popular music? It's also really refreshing to hear that he was so nice.

A very big story. Thanks Ilan.

Ilan, even though I am not a fan in the least, that is such an awesome story and experience. I can't imagine what you felt.

If I ever got to meet Steve Harris in a situation like that, I think I would almost be speechless as well.

Good going!

Thanks for sharing a great story, Ilan. I'm very much looking forward to the interview footage.

When you see him next, ask him how he enjoyed his road trip out West (U.S.) on Route 66! (That was the big story around here a couple weeks back.) :)
