Here is a nice statement by David Gilmour on his website:

http://www.davidgilmour.com/

I recommend buying Gilmour's "Live at Royal Albert Hall" DVD where Richard Wright was prominently featured.

No disrespect to Waters or Mason, but I've always viewed Gilmour and Wright as the two musicians of Pink Floyd. Besides, Wright was also a fellow trombone player like myself.

Another good DVD featuring all four is the making of "The Dark Side of the Moon" DVD where Wright talks about his approach to the songs and plays parts of them. Very nice! It is called "Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon".

I was very sad to hear the news today. Pink Floyd is probably my all time favorite band. I think all members are (and were) extremely talented. My mp3 player is loaded with Floyd songs.....I just kept skipping over others to listen to them on the way home today. They are still playing on the DVD at home as I type this. I will never forget seeing them play live 3 times. They were spectacular! Rest in peace Richard, you will be missed

I almost wrecked my car when I heard this news today over the radio....

It was like having the wind knocked out......I was really hoping that they'd make more music one day, but I guess it's not worth talking about now. LIfe is too short. The man could communicate feeling through his keys. I'll never hear 'Us And Them' the same again.

John, that was the first song I skipped to on my mp3 on my way home today. It brought me to tears

'Tis a shame to loose another great player. My kids have picked up on the Floyd over the past few years and simply love the music. He will be missed, but from judging by young folks picking up the flame, not forgotten.

This is terrible news quite out of the blue.
I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan and have spent countless hours at the keyboards fussing over Rick Wright's tunes because I loved them so much.
He lives on in his music.

His stamp (along with Pink Floyd) on the music world is indelible, it will be felt for generations to come. I thought of this as my 15-year old daughter was upset about hearing about the news, while wearing her Pink Floyd '73 Tour shirt (A gift from Dad).

David's Live At Gdansk live album comes out Tuesday in the states. This was the last show of the On An Island tour and Rick's last show.

I have the DVD called" "Remember That Night", which was the "On An Island" tour. I thought about that the other day, and wondered if that was his last appearance. He had such amazing talent. The rock world has lost one of the greats.

Watched the Syd Barret docu again last weekend...plenty R.W. & Floyd members on screen reminiscing... at one point they showed posters from P.F. club dates in the '60's, and I spotted a couple of bands lower down on the same bill we might recognize: The Syn and the Iveys.

Don't know who the Syn is, but the Iveys became Badfinger.
