TRIP - RIVER PHOENIX

http://www.myspace.com/TripsKingdom

Born in a Wimbledon Hospital in 1984 weighing a healthy 7 1⁄2 pounds, Alex Child aka Trip grew up in Hammersmith, West London. After the blur of college and a set of A levels that spelt DUDE, Trip found himself making and performing music across the capital at mates studios, on pirate radio stations and at open mic nights as a live vocalist and MC. After winning
numerous Jump-off 'one bout MC battles' and hosting the DMC world championships, a chance meeting with the scratch perverts led to another chance meeting with Killa Kela. Not long after, Trip was touring the world with both acts, supporting bands such as NERD, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Red Man and Outkast.

Early 2008 saw a limited 7" release of the irreverent rant that was Whos That, which picked up specialist radio play and was voted Tune of the Week in DJ Magazine. Music Week also tipped Trip as "one to watch"...

After moving to Holloway Boulevard in North London, Trip began to pen his debut solo album collaborating with James Rushent from Does It Offend you Yeah? and producer Lance Thomas (Ladytron etc). Now completed, the album 'ShortCuts' is a tragi-comic kaleidoscope of city life as seen through the eyes of a 24 year old Londoner. Think The Streets v The Clash...

As all the songs on ShortCuts are lyrical vignettes based around Holloway Road ( Holloway Boulevard!), North London, Trip decided to shoot an entire movie for the album rather than occasional videos for individual singles. Called DayTrip, the movie was shot by 11 different directors over a 24 hour period... Each director chose a song from the album and the film was shot in the running order of the album... Each director had 2 hours with Trip to shoot their video before he moved onto a different location and director to shoot another song from the album... Each director then had 24 hours to edit their short and the entire film was shown 24 hours later in a Soho screening room.... The beginning of each video starts with the same shot that ends the video preceding it, and each video has a clock showing real-time as Trip moved through his 24hour journey.... 'DayTrip' will be released free with the album 'ShortCuts'.

The new single 'River Phoenix' was released on Autonomy Recordings on March 16 2009 with the album 'ShortCuts' coming soon...
