I just don't know why they don't install a superflux convert-capacitor to the nimby-board, then they could run a steady voltage through the matri-diode, negating the need for any power supply at all.

Don, the JangleBox circuit does have a protection diode, but that can still be shorted out with an improper power supply. As for the diode bridge, it's being considered to address the polarity issue. Stay tuned.

Peter, this was one of the issues we've mulled over regarding the diode bridge. From a cost standpoint, a retrofit to an existing JangleBox doesn't make sense when you can simply buy a pin pos adapter for $25.00 or less. Other considerations:

• If we were to add a diode bridge (which allows users the option of a pin pos or pin neg power source) from this point on, would we be "penalizing" existing JB owners? Well, manufacturers add upgrades all the time to their products.
  
  Would it be more fair to increase the price on new JangleBoxes, making the diode bridge a premium upgrade? But we've been planning a cost increase anyway (our first in more than four years) just to cover our ever-rising costs.
  
  Do we really want pin-pos and pin-neutral JBs floating around in the marketplace? Would that create negative feeling for our brand in the resale market?

It's a tough issue for us, and ALL options are being considered and discussed. Your question is very well put — it's just that there's not an easy resolution.

Just use a bloody battery and be done with it!

Re: the upgrade/new version.

The original is a wonderful unit and is certainly priced just about right.
As Steve says, It's the way of the world with electronic gadgets thats improvements are being made all the time, if the new version is massively different to the original then I would consider buying it on it's own merit , but again as Steve pointed out, for existing owners the polarity and diode bridge issues are easily (and cheaply) rectified, and certainly wouldn't warrant purchasing another box if these are the only upgrades on the original.

I personally don't think Steve at Janglebox owes anything to the people that have already bought one. (Apart for thanks for the custom and cash! )

I'm looking forward to what the 'new' Janglebox brings to the table.

Since I'm trying to save my dough for a 1997SPC VB, I can't get one soon, but it's on my Christmas wish list. I know it can nail the tone of any Byrds, Beatles, Petty, Who or any jingle-jangly Ric song. I have no doubts you've outdone yourself Steve.

Here's a question I have about the Janglebox: We all know it can nail the Byrds sound to a tee, it nails the Beatles pretty well, too. If it didn't nail Petty's sound, Campbell wouldn't have one. But my question is, will it nail the Who's '64-'67 sound running through a VOX AC-30? If so, what settings does it need to be on to do that? I'm pretty sure it can nail "Pictures of Lily", "So Sad About Us" and "Can't Explain", but what about "The Good's Gone", "My Generation" or "The Kids Are Alright"?

IMO a loud AC-30 is more important than a Janglebox to get that Who sound.

With my 360/12 I have my AC 30 on more or less the 'Classic' setting, with the Janglebox it can chime beautifully but you can also quite nicely 'thrash' the open chords.
With my 330/6 I have my AC30 more or less on the 'Overdrive' setting, without the Janglebox I can get a lovely tone for 'Pictures of Lily anyway', but with the Janglebox it gives it that lovely sharp and bright edge which cuts through all the other instruments. I use mine nearly all the time now.
Oh, and if you're into a bit of country rock, try playing a good quality Fender Tele through your janglebox and AC30 with a bit of overdrive.

Can I get that sound with new 360 a Janglebox and a AC-15CCC1?

I'll take my hard drive multi track down to the rehearsal studio and do a little recording of of my 360/12 and 330/6 playing that song through the Janglebox and AC30. Then I'll post it on here for you.
