I've never been a huge fan of Springsteen, but he's welcome by me to take his turn. It's only a silly game anyway

  You're too nice, John. I just was just trying to pull somebody's chain.

The part about the Boss was sincere, however :)

I've never been a big Bruce fan, but he does have good songs and will put on a great show for this venue.
As much as I like the Stones, it won't take much to show them up!  :?

(I actually think the Stones should have packed it up after Taylor quit! )

Especially if my beloved Raiders aren't in it. Not worth watching any of it then.

(Which just goes to show how often I really end up watching it.)

i think bruce is a great choice for this, and definitely easily comparable to the others mentioned,as a performer/songwriter/bandleader. i am not a fan of his truly "solo" stuff, but anytime he is working with a band,i usually love it. unfortunately for me,he will probably have to do stuff from his most popular album (born in the usa),my least favorite e street lp ever.........you thought tom petty was comatose??? you really wouldn't expect bb king to run in place either, wouldya? :P

+1, although I do like some stuff on "Black and Blue" and the majority of "Some Girls", "Emotional Rescue" and "Tattoo You", as well as the four "new" songs on 40 Licks.

What's wrong with football, Jerry? Twenty-two men through their bodies at each other for a couple of hours and then they all go and shower together. Sheesh....

I agree, BTW, but basketball is worse - 10 men run to the left and throw a ball through a hoop, then they run to the right and throw the ball through the other hoop. For ever, it seems.

Meh.....you can keep "the Boss"....only girls and jocks like Springsteen. Some early E-street stuff is cool, but after "Born in the USA" gag me please..

not so Rock and Roll. At least when you see Springsteen you get your money's worth though (3 hour shows..)

You may not like his politics, or his wife, but he's been a classic rocker for decades.

I'll watch this halftime show and eat during the 4th Qtr.

And I agree, finish with "Born To Run." Perfect for the Superbowl.
I have no problem with Springsteen.. My small issue ( and I hadn't thoght about it again until now) is that FOX said bigger than any other act. I think that may be a bit of an overstatement. That's all.

Brian, I can't imagine why FOX would say such a thing. What purpose would it serve? Besides, NBC has the game this year. I'd like to see the context; do you have a link?
