It happened in 1975, IIRC. I was an undergrad at UCSD (San Diego) and Hurricane Kathleen came up the Sea of Cortez ... I-8 was washed out in Imperial and east San Diego Counties, Ocatillo Wells was washed over with a foot of mud (>10" of rain in the deserts) ... along the coast, I think that we got 5 - 7" of steady rain.wmthor wrote:I've always wondered what would happen if a tropical system ever hit So Cal.

Re: RAIN
Jerry, were there guys in yellow slickers (those are raincoats) on the news predicting impending doom? Was the 405 at a standstill?

Re: RAIN
The guys in the slickers were clucking like chicken little. Didn't notice a change in the 405, 'cept fewer tops down on the Bentleys.
Re: RAIN
Just a few from time to time, we're kind of out on the plains, they like the trees and mountains more. We've got 75 bazillion deer around here for some reason this year. Lots of antelope, pheasants, geese, and ducks too.teeder wrote:Got any elk on that ranch, cj?We have a ranch up here

Do you have Whitetail or Mule Deer? I'm sure it depends on how far east you are.
Re: RAIN
We've got mostly whitetail, but there are mulies too. We're in the part of Montana sometimes called West Dakota.
If you're in the area, sure, stop on by and visit! I'm sure a few less deer won't bother anyone here...

That'd work for me! It's pretty unlikely I'll ever be able to make to one of those coastal confluences, just too hard to be away from this place for that long...teeder wrote:Hey, it sounds like the makings of a Montana Rick Confluence!

Re: RAIN
Well, the rain is snow today! About 2-3 inches so far, another 5-7 predicted.
So Kevin, ya got any snow yet in the "Snow Belt"?

Re: RAIN
Weather here on the Prairie has been beautiful. I expect the trees in town will start to turn within the next week or ten days. It has been known to snow in October. It's rare this far south, however. [38.971N, -95.235W] We usually don't expect much chance of snow before the end of December.
