I would add to that, however, that to get the full range of tonal possibilities that a change in the wiring is helpful.
With the three pickup models, having access to the middle pickup alone, just the neck and bridge together, the middle and bridge together and the neck alone are valuable combinations that add much to the sound palette. You will need to change the wiring circuit to get all of these possibilities, however.
If you are going to paint a picture, why not be able to use all of the colours.
I modded the wiring on my 320 to use the fifth knob as a volume control for the middle pickup. I can dial in and mix any possible combination now. The mod was found online and very quick to do.

Peter, I've been thinking for a while about just that with my 370/6 Burgundyglo. Iiipopes over at the other Ric forum has some enlightening suggestions for rewiring. I kept the High-Gains on it because my other Rics all have Toasters®. I dig the H-G vibe emanating from it. It has a bit more punch or edge to it. Regards.....Goofyfoot.

I'll second that. Love my hi-gains; my 320 is a little screamer. My next rick will have toasters and 12 tuners

Rarity doesn't have much to do with collectability, it is all based on desirability.
How much do you love your 360? Do you think you will love the 370 as much, or more?

A cogent thought, Clint. It sort of is the bottom line, isn't it. If you're cool with your current 360, why take a chance on losin' the mojo? I suppose you could rationalize that the switch was directly attributable to kismet, or destiny, but was it? Well, been there and done that!
Keep on keepin' on.......Goofyfoot.

Thanks to all for your replies - this forum is awesome. I've decided to keep the 360; it's an absolutely gorgeous '08 MG with FWI's that looks and sounds great, and I'm happy with the decision, especially since I was able to buy it at the OLD PRICE!
I know that you can all relate to the high-intensity fever that accompanies RAS...!

Cool beans, Bob. Glad you kept your 360. When the time and timing is right, you could score a 370 to keep the 360 company. Yeah, dig it. Best regards.....Goofyfoot.

Thanks, David. Your posts are always great! The one color that I don't have yet is Midnight Blue - maybe there's a 370 out there with my name on it... my RAS is still alive and well!

Thanks for your sentiments, Bob. Well, we have two things in common --- a missing MID in our quivers and RAS! BTW, I just ran a cursory inventory check @ these three dealers, whose websites indicate they have new 370s in stock. No MIDs, though.
Dave's Guitars ~ 370/6 in FG, MG, and JG.
Pick of the Ricks ~ 370/6 in FG and JG.
The Rickenbacker Page ~ 370/12 AFG
As the weeks and months pass, new 370/6s will become more difficult to score. According to the December 13, 2007 USA retail price list (current), new post-12.13.07 orders for the six-string appear to be on hiatus (hopefully temporarily rather than permanently). If you can secure the dough (and keep your 360 to boot), now might be the time score a new 370/6. The 370/12 continues to be produced, although I'm not sure if it has been included in the recent production cycle.
I have a 370/6 Burgundyglo that's a keeper. Since my other 300-series Rics have Toasters®, I kept the Hi-Gains on the Burgundyglo. I dig the Hi-Gains for that edgier, modern tone, which complements the sparkling, vintage tone Toasters® achieve. See the link below for a brief slideshow. Keep on keepin' on, brah. Peace, out.......Goofyfoot.

Hey David THAT is BEAUTIFUL! I'm just a short drive away from POTR, and Chris has been getting lots of inventory lately, so it could be just a matter of time. And if a new stimulus package comes through, it's a done deal! Thanks for sharing your pics, and for your words of RAS Wisdom!

Hey Kris, Absolutely! Looking forward to meeting you, and all of the other dedicated forumites. POTR is one of my favorite places, and Chris Clayton is an absolutely wonderful RIC dealer - it'll be a great day, I'm sure.
