Coincidently enough, Blow Up was on TV a few nights ago. It is a bit dull, but groovy to get a look at part of the swinging '60's. Beck plays some POS guitar that he smashes up, and the film's "hero" drive a totally bitchen Rolls.

A little T&A action, can't imagine that would rate an X!

Today, I bought "Greatest Hits Vol. 1" today, and I'm listening to it right now. It's pretty good, and The Yardbirds are great! I want more albums! :D

Greatest Hits 1 was probably not the best way to go. It's seriously limited in what it offers as it only offers about half of the Beck era, which is probably the best portion of the group's material.

My mom said her brother will give me any two CDs of my choice, so I'll ask him for "Ultimate!". "Greatest Hits Vol. 1" wasn't too bad, though. They sure know how to bring out the Blues! :)

OK, I just oreder Blow Up from Netflix and it showed up in my mailbox today.

I'll watch it tonight and report as to whether it was as "groovy" and wild as everyone thought it was 30+ years ago.

Best,

I seem to recall in my vinyl collection from the 60s, an album that was highly favored in blues circles called "Five Live Yardbirds" and if memory serves me right, it was E.C. on the lead guitar. And I have another vinyl blues inspired oldie live album "Sonny Boy Williamson with the Yardbirds". Don't know if that material is on these compilations or box sets CDs nowadays.

I used to have Sonny Boy Williamson with the Animals, that was a great record.

OK, I watched the whole thing and also listened to commentary. Pretty tame by today's standards. Boy have we deteriorated!! And they thought our generation was living in the fast lane! But the women sure had wild hair back then. And I actually dressed like some of those people. I also had friends as stoned as his agent.

Great to see Beck do a Townsend on some poor, hapless axe.

I had friends in a band who bought a home-made RIC from a pawn shop and performed at a small town prom. They broke that RIC thinking it was cool and the school officials freaked out and told them to stop playing and go home!!!!

Ah, the '60s.

The Yardbirds are really timeless. Amazing band.

Saw the Yardbirds at the Shrine Auditorium in LA right after Beck had left the band. Jimmy was freaking dangerous...this vid I thought was interesting..listen for the opening line that later would be the basis of "Communication Breakdown"....
