Got the steel last night. I strung it up and it plays nice, but I'm not getting any sound from it (though I can hear the scratching of the pots when I move them). No multimeter around, so I'll have to wait 'till Saturday for a diagnosis.
Where are the serial numbers on these?
The smell reminds me of my Grandparents' basement - which leads me to believe that it was possibly in a flood?
Either way, it's a really cool piece of history that I'm really looking forward to playing.

Not only on the headstock...but covering almost the entire body, including in the control cavity!!

Well, it's not pretty to look at, but thanks to John Allgaier, it is now up-and-running and it sounds great!
