Well I think we're pretty much off the grid this weekend (I'm about to), but I'll make sure my dad and Eric check out this thread.
Nothing like seeing satisfied Rick customers and I assure you, 2009 is only going to raise the bar for quality as we have some vast improvements about to take place in the mill and finish area.

Nice to hear that, Ben.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Shoot, I get to feeling like that every time somebody posts a photo of their new baby whether it's brand new, or previously owned. I don't go near the Rickenbacker Register anymore.

I recently received my 2 new FireGlo Ricks - 660/6 AFG, and 370/6 FG - and I must concur with the panel; I've never seen such beautiful work. 2008 will be an absolute banner year for RIC - I can't wait to see what's coming in 2009!

One of the reaons why I sold my FG was because it was pink.
The color pictured at M/F is much, much nicer.
And I'm not a fan of blue instruments but that midnight blue is dark enough for my taste.
If only I needed another guitar . . .
The selling price btw is $2,249.00. Whew. GAS cured.

I had an '08 FG330/12 earlier this year that was simply THE BEST fireglo I've EVER seen! (Unfortunately, I had to sell it... The neck was just too narrow for me.)
I was never a big fan of the FG finish either, due to the "pinkish" quality of it... I hope they keep spraying 'em like they have been recently... I've got the AFG 660/12 on my wish-list, but if I end up with a regular FG, I won't feel so bad... Not if it looks like the current examples I've been seeing.
The new MID is awesome too... I have a 4003 (4/08) in MID, and I don't think pictures could ever do it justice!
Oh, and the new UV finish is much better than CV, in my opinion... It does look glossier, and it's not nearly as "sticky"... I have an '07 330, and you can definitely see and feel the difference.. It'll never yellow with age, though... Not so bad for MID and JG, but it's a shame for FG and MG...

The MID Blue finishes I've seen lately have been absolute stunners, and the FG finish on a forum owner's recent 360 I saw last week was equally gorgeous-one of the richest I've seen, quite similar to the vintage FG on early 60s models.

How sure are you that you've got the new UV finish? I seem to remember John Hall saying a couple of weeks ago that the new UV finish was going to start shipping in a few weeks, so unless your guitar is
REALLY new, it's probably not the new finish.
Edit: OK, I found it:
John Hall on the UV Finish
That was from Nov 6, 2008, saying the UV finish won't be out until "next month" meaning sometime in Dec. So I'd guess it'd be difficult to actually have a UV finish RIC just yet...

The finish has had UV elements for some time now. JH was referring to the full UV finish rollout.

Right. So, Ed's guitar that he says looks better with the UV finish still would have a CV clearcoat finish on it, which is pretty much the same as they've been for years.

We have been using a UV basecoat for a few months now with cv over it. The cv looks better over the UV cured basecoats because the shrinkage is much less. However, we plan to spray UV curable topcoats fairly soon.

Ben, when I posted on the company forum that I was getting a new 4003, (back in June) you told me that if it was made in April, it would have the FWIs and the "new finish", which I took to mean UV... Sure enough, it was made the first week of April, and had the FWIs, so I assumed it also had the UV finish. I thought the full change-over to UV began in April of this year... Though I do recall noticing that the 4003
smelled the same as previous Ricks, and wondered why..
At any rate, the neck on the 4003
does feel slicker than my '07 330.. That neck has always felt a bit sticky. Even more so than the '05 360 I used to own..
