I play Rickenbacker roundwound strings on my 325 and I am very happy with them. I do not like flatwound strings - maybe this is because I am not very much after the 60s´ sound either.

My string collection goes back to the turn of the last century. I'm saving them for someone special. Me. When people ask me, "How do I get that sound?", I tell them "It's the water" and hand them a map of Olympia, WA. This is apparently very helpful for everyone involved, as they seldom return with more questions.

apparently he didn't care what type he used, I personally think that rounds give a better treble sound over flats, so the must have done something special to get that sound.
