I'll give you the pickguard, but my V has that tailpiece on it, unless I've missed something somewhere. Since it was probably a new bass, it would make sense that it has C64 body wings - no S bodies now other then the C64.

It looks like a three screw C tailpiece.

Jeff, zoom in. There are dimples where the holes should be, right in front of the thru-holes on the E and G strings. This is a 5 screw tailpiece.

I can sort of see something under the G but not under the E, either way, it was made from a C or a V series bass.

The FOOW bass sounded really good in St. Louis. Like you all have said, it was hotter and less distinct, but it also sounded extra distorted too. I don't know the name of the song it was played on but I liked it a lot. I was within 100-150 feet of CS so I had a pretty good view! I assumed this bass had a Horseshoe--it was too hard to really tell from that far against the black finish. All of his basses sounded good that night, but the RM1999 was the champ in terms of tone.

When the issue first arrived I called my wife over to show her the cover photo. I told her that it was a shame that the years had caught up with Chris. She walked away and returned a few minutes later with a photo of a slim, long haired, bearded hippie of about 25 years old. All she said was, "see"? ****. It was me. Too bad that, as a player, Chris has improved over the years, and I have just gotten older.

Beatlefreak has kindly left instruction in another post. Unfortunately, I had to shrink this smaller then I wanted. But, it should still do the trick. dog

I have a bass with a 5 screw tail on it beside me and the screws seem alot more visable than what may or may not be on the foow bass. I suspect it is a c64 tailpiece.
Lets have a big bun fight about it now!
Could we be a bit too obsessive about it?

That's exactly what I thought, too, about the screw size!
