That's one good-lookin' Jet there, Mr. W.

Wonder what a 125th anni would look like...

And that would be what, exactly? Single-coil pots and caps with huge 'buckers...not sure I'd be a fan...

"...The humbuckers naturally are deeper and wider than the Rickenbacker pickups so I had to deepen and widen the area where the gibson pickups were going..."

Uh-oh...

"Being only 16, I used a blade Ah, Jeez, noooooooo...... and you can see a slight 1/8 of an inch area where the blade came past the pickup no big deal really. I'm melting, I'm melting...aaaaaahhhhhhh... The middle Rickenbacker rhythm pickup was removed, and because the black finish of the guitar is so slick and shinny, I was able to just place a piece of black plexi between the two Humbuckers..."

Too bad about the youthful butchery...and it looks refinished, too, judging from the "zombie shine" gloss in this photo, which is what lacquer or enamel looks like when it hasn't been color-sanded and buffed:

It's like a bad car wreck, WHY do we look?

Daniel, those double-cut pros come around pretty often on Ebay. Any good luthier can fit the FTs.

Here's the extent to which the Pro is chambered (this is Aitch's de Ville in early stages):

Now Gretsch's Custom Shop has done a Billy Zoom Jet--which sells for $5400.00, and is chambered exactly like Aitch's.

Thanks for that pic, Paul. Never saw the inside of one of those before. Interesting pattern of "chambering". Looks like they did it more to reduce weight than affect the sound...but what do I know.

All the Billy Zooms I've ever seen were somwhere in the ballpark of 8k...I think they list for just under 12k. If you've seen one for $5400, that's a hell of a deal.

BTW, one more question about your double cut jet. Does that have a set neck or is it a bolt on? I noticed it's got a tone switch, and the current double cut Pro Jets don't feature this. Did you add it yourself? I seem to recall some of the older Electromatics that were bolt ons had a tone switch but I'm not 100% sure...hence the first question. Thanks.

Ebay was around in '75? Where the hell was I?

Of course eBay was around prior to the internet. The guy who wrote the description must only remember facts (cough) that conveniently serve his purpose.

BTW Paul, you are the only one I know who could have saved this guitar. Nice work!!

Here's another questionable eBay entry... Not as ridiculous as the one that started this thread, but still... Don't 4005s go for about this price?

...the guitar is completely original as well with no breaks, drops, repairs, or issues whatsoever!!
Hmm, must have been special order knobs from Rickenbacker at the time, eh?
