Dare I say? 2009 COY?

That's right, announcements like this come at NAMM.
But then, sometimes we want to have an even date, like Jan. 1 or Dec. 31, so we'll move the announcement up.
On the other hand, we've also made announcements very early, with no inkling, just to get a jump on things and keep people on their toes.

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

I vote for White on White. Just like I do every year. And every year it's not.

Re: Dare I say? 2009 COY?
Not to offend anyone's dreams but I really hope they DON'T do a COY so that they can keep working on the backlog and streamlining any processes that may need it. Add me to the list of people who have been waiting >1 year for an instrument... not to mention that a decreased backlog could mean more face time for rarer MODELS (rather than finishes) such as the 4004, which is ridiculously neglected as a respected instrument in the bass playing world. I mean, it's got all the stylings of a classy, boutique, serious player's bass... and you hardly ever see them. The only reason we do is because of this forum and the corporate forum, and occasionally eBay.

Hey! Maybe the 2009 COY is "Orange Niteglow":

WTF?

You have to read the whole ad to get the full effect. A sampling:bassduke49 wrote:Hey! Maybe the 2009 COY is "Orange Niteglow":

"Model 2003. Orange sunburst I think they call it NiteGlow, but that my be a cranial flatulation on my part."
Prolly so.
Re: Dare I say? 2009 COY?
I sorta selfishly hope for no 2009 COY, as it'll make it a little easier playing catch-up, on getting a 4003 in each of the others.

Re: Dare I say? 2009 COY?
Why would having a COY necessarily affect the backlog? Just do everything FIFO. You get to order a COY guitar during 2009, and when RIC gets around to building it, you get it. It might take a year and a half to get around to it (perhaps less, depending on how much of the backlog gets worked off in the meantime) but at least you'll get to order something other than the four basic finishes. A COY might even spur additional orders during these tough economic times, which would be a good thing for RIC.

That is exactly what RIC does not need at the moment if they want to get the BOs under control.Ric O'Sound wrote:A COY might even spur additional orders during these tough economic times, which would be a good thing for RIC.

Re: Dare I say? 2009 COY?
I never took an economics class in my life, but would the discernable rising inventory in
the popular Ric dealerships have any correlation to a diminishment in the Back Orders?
Or are the popular "-off-the-shelf"(sic) model's constant production a way to keep
the business fluid and on a steadily income positive course.
This is by no means a criticism of any kind- just an observation- valid or not...
