Amen, brother. We've been whooped for too long.

RIC dealer franchise agreements prohibit them from advertising RIC's at any price other than MSRP(retail) price. As a continuation of that, we shouldn't discuss the prices here either. You'll probably notice that most RIC dealers will send you an email only with their selling price. Used prices are okay though.

Good to know that info, Dane. Thanks for the clarification.

Another reason would be that the price a dealer gives me may not be the price he gives you.

Yes, this is one of the reasons why I'd prefer to keep the actual selling prices of authorized RIC dealers off the forum.
Let's respect JH's intentions and reasons to keep the prices private.

There are also a couple of other reasons why, that I would prefer not to mention publicly as I feel some things are much better kept to PMs and emails. Anyone who has PMed or emailed me about this matter now knows my reasons and so far I've not had anyone disagree with me.

Erik, this is another very good reason that I didn't think of.

To clarify my edited initial post, the price I mentioned was publicly published on the dealer's website so it was no secret, really.

I've been impressed and baffled at some of the deals people have gotten recently. They must know the right dealers. I paid a little more than I would have liked for my 4003FL (well shy of $2000 but closer than I expected) but it was totally worth it in the end. You do have to count a 5-year warranty into your purchase if you buy new--that's pretty cool in and of itself.

Now, there is one surefire way to get a good sale: reserve a Ric years in advance. Heehee, can't wait till my 4003 MG arrives...

Check out Musician's Friends prices. They have gone way up in the last year or so. Use the "email me the price" button.
