Haven't seen it yet. It comes on here at 1am on Wednesday and then again 7pm on Saturday. I've got my DVR timer set.

I did not get to the show until half way through. I wonder if there will be a repeat of this episode soon? I am sorry I missed this interview.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Stan, thanks for the link.

I have a question for John & Mike. Since the two of you have know each other for a while, how could you guys keep a straight face during the filming. Are there any out-takes?

Thanks for the link Stan! :D We don't get US Antiques Roadshow here as far as I'm aware so I would never have seen that little gem!

It wasn't Mike that was supposed to do the on-air as this was another appraiser's bailiwick. However, there was some scheduling conflict in Palm Springs and Mike stepped up to the plate. The executive producer, Marsha Bemko came down to the floor personally to talk with me and see the item; she put Mike on the set.

The piece was highly edited, as probably most of them are. Mike asked a number of questions to which I responded but they basically just strung all my responses together so I look like chatterbox-magpie. There was a retake at the end to append an "insurance value" since I had clearly stated I wasn't interested if offering it for auction, but other than that it was short and sweet.

The only real surprise was that just as the amount was announced, an armed police officer took up position beside me and she stayed with us the rest of the day, walking us back to the car, and even scanning the parking lot before we drove off. AR is pretty careful, apparently after some bad experience, to take care of people carrying out their big ticket items. They told me the main reason they ban cell phones on the floor is to preclude accomplices setting up for a heist.

That's a pretty stellar ROI on the $3.99 your father probably paid for it.

Just an incredible and significant signed album. Find it interesting, or unusual, that George signed it twice.

He was probably just overly-excited. He had just received his first Rick 12 and the other lads didn't get new Ricks during that visit. Besides, IIRC, he had a cold or was ill at the time.

Cool! Diane and I just watched that!
Maybe George just thought it would be cool that his name was on both sides of the album cover.

John, you kept that album cover in great shape though all these years!

My dad brought me a bunch of stuff when I was a kid. A signed Beatles album wasn't one of them, however.

Very cool.
