Lord, but that has to be the most famous chord in pop music history.

There is the "G" chord riff of "My Generation" by The Who, which I consider famous, and yes, the original recording is a Ric tune.

While I agree with all that has been said I must say that I think it sounds like a Ric.... it sounds like nothing else. There are others which try to emulate the sound but a Ric sounds like a Ric.

Read this as Chimes of Freedom is playing - not sure which amp Roger used but definitely not like a blizzard of nails. Very chimey.

if we are talking solidbody & toasters: 12 string sounds like nothing else. 6 string bit like very early esquire with added strat pickup in the neck position.

this is highly scientific thread so i would add my 100% objective observation
toasters : zing or cluck
high gains: ke-rrang
horseshoe- bzzzzuuum
dusan palka who is also known as grazioso on infamous auction web site

The best word I could come up with was "Brrraaaannng"... You have to roll the R's, like the Scottish do in order to get the sense of it...

My RIC's always had a distinctive "Brrrraaannng" sound...

Aye. Round the rugged rock, the ragged rascal ran.

Ricks make tons of different sounds; it's all how one flips the switches and twists the knobs, both on the amp and on the guitar! :D

I can get all the sounds I want out of my Ricks; everything from the raunchiest rock/punk sounds to rockabilly twang, atypical Rick jangle, and jazz.

If you want all the chime to be had on "Chimes of Freedom" get a load of Starry Eyed & Laughing's recording. I believe Tony Poole is playing a 330 12 string.

Wow, there's definite Scottish accent to the sound of that Rick...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
