Hmm, last time, Kenny said that "Subsitute's becoming the `Louie Louie' of Power Pop",
If I remember correctly, it was the "Freebird" of Power pop .
Because.....honestly, "Louie Louie" is the "Louie Louie" of power pop- the original power pop tune.

ps....here's what I'd reccomend:
Beatles- Tomorrow never knows (you said you wanted something with few key changes.....this one has none at all!)
If I needed Someone
Wait
Strawberry Fields (yes, I'm weird- I know....)
Who- Leaving Here (technically the High Numbers, an early cover if anyone's familiar)
Anyway Anyhow Anywhere
Pink Floyd - Arnold Layne
Interstellar Overdrive
Plus....some Smiths would be cool, but I shouldn't reccomend stuff I can't play myself- Marr being a genius and all...

I might be able to do that, although I normally only do the back-up vocals in the choruses.
From the SoCalCon thread, here is 'my' song list:
Here are some songs that I know the rhythm guitar part to (some I know the lead part, too):
Animals House Of The Rising Sun
Bad Company Can't Get Enough Of Your Love
Beatles A Hard Day's Night
All My Loving
And I Love Her
Can't Buy Me Love
Day Tripper [lead guitar only]
Eight Days A Week
From Me To You
I Don't Want To Spoil The Party
I'm Looking Through You
I Want To Hold Your Hand
Nowhere Man
Please Please Me
Things We Said Today
You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
Buddy Holly Peggy Sue
Byrds I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better
Mr. Tambourine Man
My Back Pages
CCR Bad Moon Rising
Born On The Bayou
Down On The Corner
Have You Ever Seen The Rain
I Put A Spell On You
Proud Mary
Up Around The Bend
Del Shannon Runaway
Eagles Lyin' Eyes
Take It Easy
Tequila Sunrise
Elvis Presley His Latest Flame
Linda Ronstadt When Will I Be Loved
Moody Blues The Story In Your Eyes
Ringo Starr It Don't Come Easy
Ritchie Valens We Belong Together [lead guitar only]
Rolling Stones Angie
As Tears Go By
Brown Sugar
Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers Mary Jane's Last Dance
Ventures Walk Don't Run
Who Behind Blue Eyes
Pinball Wizard
Yardbirds For Your Love
I know the vocals for some of these, too, and I probably have a working tab for the majority of them.

Bump!
Quiet/low volume rehearsal
with drums-brushes, cool rods (woo hoo!!) on Thursday and Friday at my place, in preparation for the Post NAMM GRaham Minicon jam. My long time friend and former band mate Paul Sakry will be hitting the skins with us for rehearsal. He's the drummer in the Untold Fables video I posted awhile back.

PM me for address/directions to get to my place if you don't have them already. Meanwhile, let's all learn as many of these as we can. You Tube and the AZ chords website are quite helpful!!!
AZ Chords webiste:
http://www.azchords.com/
Y'all are sufficiently computer literate to get to the bands you need to from there, eh?
As always, feel free to PM me with questions or concerns.
Cheers,
Paul

Kenny - that's cool ! So with you leading the way on Eight Miles High and with Gary singing My Back Pages, there's a few additional Byrds numbers for the list .

R.E.M. ---- Paul, Graham and I tried practicing Man on the Moon and made a stab at it last night.

I'm new to the forum. Hope you will play some seriously righteous Rick on Sat. Wish I could be there but I'm in Chi. Also hope somebody can play Petty's Listen to her Heart. Send some video.

Hmmm, maybe I'll get you a copy of
The Ultimate Smiths Fake It Book....right after I write it.

I took a look at the playlist. It's given me some good ideas. ( The Break Up Song!--Genius!) But I didn't see any later RM songs. How about some Back To Rio stuff? Someone to Love, Car Phone, If We Ever Meet Again? All good stuff that nobody but me and him play, I guess.

Yep; we're putting together a jam sesson list of songs that we all know, and there's a strong possiblility that most of us don't know those songs by RM.

Like your set list. How about some Back From Rio era McGuinn? Does anybody play that stuff besides RM? Have fun. Can't wait to hear the responses.

Nope, won't be playing any of that; we'll have enough trouble with the songs we already know.
The only song I've heard from that recording was "King of the Hill", which I thought was Tom Petty, not that there's anything worng with that, and IIRC, TP produced the recording and sang backing vocals.
Nah, it's going to be all the hits and cult favorites amongst the jammers. Still, if you want to fly out and jam with us, we'd probably play one or two of the numbers with you.
