Yeah, come on now, I've just barely cracked 2 pages here! I gotta keep the suspense and mystery going a bit longer...

Just wait until it actually gets shipped to me on Monday...

Maybe more like rough or maybe tough. Yeah, that's it, up here in Northern Montana, we're rough and tough...

We've gotta be, the wind's whippin' the snow along at about 56MPH right now, we've got what's know as a ground blizzard goin' on right now.

Here's a pic from the webcam:

OK, ok, I haven't seen it, but I'm told it has some nice birdseye and the headstock wings match the fingerboard nicely...

Yeah, yeah, I know. I lived in So. Cal for MANY years. When I was a kid, I lived in San Clemente (I'm an ex surfer beach bum, went to school with Hobie Alter Jr.), I was actually President Nixon's paperboy! Seriously! That's the god's honest truth! Really!

Then again, up here in Northern Montana, you can leave your car, keys in the ignition, heck, even running, downtown while you go into the store, and ya know what? It'll be there when you're done. Shoot, we don't even bother to lock the house when we go away for the weekend (or even a week!). Of course, if something turned up missing, well, there'd only be about 10 people you'd have to check out. Heck, there's only about 10 people within 5 miles of our place...

Richard Nixon's PAPERBOY?!!
That's Histo-RIC!

Good for you, making the break from tension town and finding a way to live a life in the Great State of Montana!
I'm sure that all but the harshest Winter Months are beautifu; what keeps most of us locked in an Uban Jungle is a little ole' thing called "JOB"- And alas, for better or worse, the musical arena in Los Angeles (and Las Vegas, a short hop away week-ends in my case) can be a necessary evil if we wanna play..

My Sister lives in that type of small-town environment in rural Indiana, 5 acres with her (2) horses; like you describe, but of course growing at a good clip.
Lots of ex-pat Movie Stars and such buying property in MT, driving the home-on-the-range prices up too I understand...course THESE days...Is ANYBODY able to buy ANYTHING :?: :?:

So, except for the fact that I'd be a "stranger" in town, you can leave that BOX all out in the open, eh??
Neighbors don't know, have no clue...Prolly 25 miles away, too!

Yeah, that's true. The music scene up here is nonexistent, well, except for a little get together once a month, where they play stuff my 77 year old mom would call ancient and the audience would think she's a kid. Nothing wrong with the old folks, I'm gettin' there too, I just like something with more than a 2 note bass line.

As for jobs, well, there's nothing around here but farm/ranch. Luckily, I have a job I can do remotely via computer/internet, 'cause farming won't pay the bills.

They mostly buy over in "the pretty part" of Montana, the western portion where all the mountains are. I'm up near the Canadian border, the part of the state sometimes called West Dakota. Land is pretty cheap here, mostly 'cause nobody in their right mind wants to live here...

Well, even if they did know you just got a $2000 package delivered, and saw it sitting outside, they'd just move it inside if it started to rain or something. They'd likely stop by to see what ya got, but they wouldn't take it.

Well, enough about small town life, no Rick content there... Back to the matter at hand...

Hey did I mention I'm getting a new bass next week? It's supposed to ship out on Monday (but maybe not until Tuesday). Now, just what could it be???

Oh, I know, I can narrow it down further, since it was ordered in March of 2007, it's a NEW Rickenbacker bass!

So that's the way it's gonna be, huh?
Not going to give it up...

OK then, we City Boys know how to handle Sod-Busters such as yourself....

Tomorrow, Monday, I will call the Postmaster of Bucolic, MT (that is the town name, right?)

I will identify myself as "Factory Rep" from Cal-If-or-ni-ay who has sent a box containing product to Resident # 42 of Bucolic. MT.
Could he please OPEN IT! and phone me FIRST, so that I, Factory Rep, could verify correct shipment of Model, Color, and Serial #.

I'm certain that Horace, the Postmaster-General, of East Bucolic, MT. will comply, as of course,
"Iffen a FACTORY rep is a-gonna call, I shore better get that box opened and call himwith that in-for-mation"

YEEEEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAAW, Katy, close the Barn Door! They's a calli' from the City!"

That-there CJJJ gots himself a new geee-tar!"

YEEEEEEEEE haw!

Nuthin' to it.

Go ahead, call the postmaster! Well, I think officially she'd be the post mistress, but I'm sure she'd be ok with post master. She wouldn't like being called Horace though. It won't help because it'll be going UPS!

Now, you could call Gary, our usual UPS driver, but he's retiring. Unfortunately, he slid his UPS truck off the road on some ice, and broke his neck. He'll be ok, no paralysis or anything. So he can't help you.

Let's see.. I've already got one of these:
body.JPG
That's a '76 4001 Azureglo.

And of course you all should know by now that I've got this one:
4003_body.jpg
That's an '84 4003.

Oh! I mentioned it was coming UPS, so it'll be in a brown truck. Yeah, I'll be waiting for a truck, with a BOX! THE BOX in fact!

Hmm, that reminds me of another LONG thread... Something about a box and a truck, or a truck and a box...

Maybe we should go back and review that thread. I believe there just might be some clues there somewhere...

Yes, "THE BOX"....
Some crazy *#&$^ in that thread, which I understand has been nominated for
"Bass Thread of the Decade" by the IBFAA-
(Internet Bass Forum Association of America)...

It won over such stellar competing thread from "other" forums such as:

TalkBass:
"Duuuuuuuh, I'm gettin' like a new amp and new Bass, duuuuuuuh, mine SLAYs ours, and duuuuuuh,
I'm fourteen and play in a "Children of Badooom" cover band and my band is giving a showcase, and
duuuuuuuuhhhhhhh....."

EB/MM MusicMan Bass Forum:
"Oh Big Poppa, you are so fine, and anything you say or do is correct, and I had dinner with you once, and boy howdy
do I love you People, and Beth, you are so real, and I'm gonna order the new models righ away, and Big Poppa! Call on ME!!! Big Poppa...ME! ME!"

Warwick Forum:
"Vas is los mit dein Buzzard? Icht nacht verboten zu mizzen pik-up fer dash gebetten rowsen mit dein Hellborg Jahwol!

That one was particularly tough to overcome, but I DID IT!

Lessee, what else??

Guitars by Leo?
Naah, nuthin on Basses there!

DudePit?
Can we say "Re-hab" or ..."Jail...?"

Is there a Lakland Forum, or a Sadowsky Page:
Here, prototype:
"I love my over-priced parts bass, body/neck by Warmoth, hand-assembled price-jacked up"
It's absolutely the best, and I'm ordering a PINK one!"

No my friends-

EVERYTHING- everything was in "THE BOX"

Drama, pathos, tragedy, ...LOVE!...rejection, smart-asses, wise-guys, humour, disregard, Ethics, and most of all ...
TRUTH! It sets us free...

So..You're getting a FireGlo 4003!

How nice.
Are they good basses?

Nah, if Wildwood had it on their page until the middle of last week, it's kinda doubtful I would have ordered it almost 2 years ago...

As for a 4003 Fireglo, well, part of that guess is right. Actually, if anyone's been paying attention, I've mention in several threads exactly what I've had on order, even the thread I referenced above...

:?:

Hmmmm-
If it's a MG4003, I was able to, in my hunt for FireGLo, to find I think 2 Dealers at least that I recall having MG 4003's good to go- One, Classic Axe, even spoke erotically about the grain....
I was so close...(That's what SHE said..... )

So I'm just going to have to call that PostMistress and/or UPS and have them
HOLD UP!
Shipment/Delivery until we can straighten this thing out.....
