Congrats to Ted on 5000. My bass wouldn't be checkerboarded without ya!

Wow, Ted. 5000 is a milestone, and you did it in real style. I am really so glad you made it to 5000, given your absence. It was a real breath of fresh air when you recently returned. Your insight and knowledge is always anticipated and enjoyed. I am humbled to even be included....

Now, ROCK OUT LIKE MOTORHEAD!!!!!

Even though his tendency to manufacture nouns by prefixing words with "Ricken-" (i.e Ricken-world, Ricken-quality etc.) makes me want to slap him in the head :) I appreciate the positive energy and the love for the instruments. Jeff lives near me so we have gotten together for mini-confulences a few times. We need to do it again soon Jeff!
Sorry for the late entry to the thread. I glanced at it a month ago or so when I didn't have the time to read it or respond and then I sort of forgot about it.

Congrats on 5000 and thank you for your posts.

Very nicely put, Ted. It's a great community and it's at its best when you are active. I haven't had time to read all of your "Anatomy Of A Rickenbacker Bass" series, but I've read some of it and it's great stuff. Packed with information and fun to read.

"Always has something nice to say?" Personally, I think that Thomas kid is kind of a Ricken-Jerk!

Keep up the good work...and yes, we need to get together for a beer soon!

Ted, I have to reflect the sentiments expressed here et.al. Your posts have filled in the missing bits for me and others in the DIY lutherie trade over the years. I have to thank you also for the off-line support and I am thankful that you were able to work through your situation and come back to what you obviously are very passionate about. BTW your collection is actually very impressive and representative of the various periods of Rick bass history, giving you a unique perspective. Many collectors specialize, but you have a genuine '63 (one of a few this fine), a 4080, 4002, all 3 SPC colors, JG V63, 4001s, 4003s of various years, many others. You have resurrected many lost causes and helped others like me to do the same. Plus, you can bang out a pretty passable Rush lick :o If visiting Chicago, you would be the guy I would look up for anything Rick or otherwise. Congrats and keep on postin'.

Wes

Wes Thanks for the kind words sir! I have learned quite a lot here myself and it is only right I should give back. I try to do that as much as possible.

Jeff - I still have not looked for that part you wanted. My shop is a total mess right now. I plan to clean it up in the next week or so. Did you say beer?

Thanks Gary! You are another forumite who made my first year here pleasant. You may remember also that you were my first Ebay seller. Remember that sad '75 4001FG? She is playable these days but a little gimpy. Someday I will do a proper neck repair.... :)

Yep, feedback number 1 for you! I was wondering whether you still had that one ... that bass has seen a lot of action!

Well, thank you Evan. The fact is, no one else will listen to me talk about this stuff. :) My wife heard enough about 10 years ago.

Ted, I enjoyed our conversations together at the RIC 75th celebration, about Ricks and other things we spoke about (Germany, etc.) I hope we'll get to do that again!
