I don't know about "marvelous surprises", but the pearl white double neck is getting a very important mod/update and there is one project that no one here has seen yet that started out as a 1988 4003JG that I got from Kenny .

Dane - after your mods, it looks like you have a 4003.5S/5.... What a fantastic looking bass!

Thanks Evan! I wanted the vintage looks of the 4001S with the sound of a 4004, but without the tight spacing of a 4003S/5. This bass really does play and sound good with the stock RIC HB1's, although going any wider at the bridge would have had the same problem the 4004Cii5 had with the B and G dropping off in volume. As it was, the bridge I used had cast in string slots that had to be ground out and re-slotted with nut files for slightly narrower spacing.

Wow, that bass looks great in both the before and after shots. You don't see that every day!
