A reissue; aren't they all Japanese?
Gotcha. I had a line on an American one from the 70's if you were interested.

Hah! Yeah, sold off long ago for...maybe my ES-125?
Anyway, this thread is for naught, I bought a Country Gent yesterday.

For sure! Don't have much time to take pics over the next few days, but I'll be gigging with it on Saturday night, so perhaps some live pics?

Cool, I'll look forward to that!

So you got it in hand, bought in person?

Yep, the music store I teach at had it sitting on the wall for a good 2-3 years. I've worked there for a year and played it almost every day.
I was never crazy about the look or the GH connection, even though I loved the feel, sound, and vibe. I searched high and low for a Falcon, or a 6120, or a Country Club, anything but a Gent. I tried out many Gretschs along the way and they were seriously hit-and-miss (
especiallyvintage ones, which were mostly "miss"). In the end, I had to face the facts: I loved the feel of that specific Gent and i had been looking for something else that felt like it, and the guys and girls in the store were sick of looking at it. I got a great deal and everyone's happy. Especially me.
Seeing this helped me get over the obvious Beatle connection (huge Springsteen fan):

Sometimes the one you were meant to have is under your nose the whole time! Congrats!

Country Gents are very nice guitars to play. The two guitarists in my group from years ago had mid-60s models and even I with my big hands could play them - very nice neck and action on them. Congrats John.
