I agree Steve, Hysteria was the first Muse song I heard too and I thought it was great.

I recently saw them on the MTV awards show and they were kind of treating them as a new band. Hysteria came out at least a couple years ago didn't it?

Tool and A perfect Circle are great too.

If I were to describe them, it would be a cross between Radiohead, and Rage Against the Machine. Awesome musicians, the three of them.

I have seen them do the first two videos, but didn't know who it was. I'm glad this thread came along. I think I will get some of their recordings. The guitarist/lead singer can really play.

The Ric bass looks to be modified at the treble pickup. Anyone know the details of what he did? I'm leaving all of mine as it of course... (just curious)

That opening bass riff(Hysteria) is sick.

My son has been practicing the heck out of that riff all weekend. He's actually getting it...

...send Evan here to teach it to me! I'm too lazy to figure it myself, at the moment.

Ev is busy practicing the rest of the songs on their DVD. He says he found a youtube video where they slowed it down. He does owe you a bass lesson though. After all, you taught him some Led Zep

Muse is coming to Colorado in April 2010, very close to my house. My wife and I are thinking of going. I wonder how many of the kids will ask us if we came with our kids?? I think we'll be well over the average age.

I dunno David, they have been around 15 years, so they must have fans of all ages.

Right now we have GA tix for the Philly show but, I'm trying to find a sucker, I mean someone to trade us for GA tix for the MSG show

You have a point, Marc. In hindsight, they could easily have fans upward to 50 (I'm 47 and soon to be 48 in March). I'd guess that the bulk of their fans are in their 30's.

I'm 33... my bro-in-law's 38... we're going... well, not to that gig, but to a Muse gig here in Holland. Never feel too old, or too young - go and enjoy! :D

Update! The concert at the Broomfield Events Center, which then became "The Odeum," and then became "1stBank Center" was canceled recently as the band and road crew were trapped west of the continental divide in a snowstorm. I didn't end up buying tickets for that one, as it was officially sold out and remaining tickets were being sold by brokers at higher prices.

It seems to have turned out well, as a Pepsi Center (Denver) concert was planned for October 2 as well, and I pulled the trigger on those tickets just a couple hours after they went on sale. I think I got some good ones, and it is a more reasonable "official" ticket price as well.

Looking forward to attending with my wife.

I've got their "A Seaside Rendezvous" concert at Teignmouth, England recorded on the DVR. It just runs one hour, so is probably a "best of" from the concert. Not a band song in the set shown on the program. They are a very good live band. There was a good interview with the guitarist/singer Matthew Bellamy in the prior "Guitar Player" where he goes into detail about custom guitars and the sound he likes.
I saw a similar concert by Franz Ferdinand on TV, and they didn't come off as well live.

Seeing them for the first time live this Saturday... it's going to be chilly and rainy... but I doubt the band will disappoint!
