With all the parts at RICs disposal, wouldnt it be fun to build a personal custom bass or guitar?

Scott...This is almost exactly what I would do if I could do one for myself - except, as has been mentioned - FWI and walnut winged headstock...
Anybody wanna guess the final price?

Yep, I remember previous 4003 SPCs getting some big money...What a cool deal it'd be to own a one-off Rickenbacker 4003.

Of all the one offs the RIC outlet has offered, is the first with a reserve price? I can't recall on the others.

i think it is a test to see just how much someone is willing to pay for something like this before they might be released worldwide...

I was surprised by that too.

I am guessing it is not going to be a model and is just an interesting one-off made from parts in inventory.

This bass was built PRE Fwi's...

In fact, it was hanging in my office for well over a year.

Beautiful! I'll bet it goes for a tidy sum.

Oh yeah! Almost my dream bass... If only it had 5 strings... If only I had the money this is likely to bring... :(

+1

Yep, those look like 4002 body wings to me as well. And IIRC, the last one-off RIC Outlet bass was confirmed to have 4002 body wings by the RIC.

I like it! And I think those are walnut head wings, just very light ones.

I like the non full width inlays! No complaints here!

Looks like a "Foward with the Past" model!
