I have the hotter toasters on my 12V64, they both read about 12,3 K, the toasters on the TP both read about 10,7 K. Would be interesting to know if all those toasters used on the TPs read less than the 12 Ks, maybe they were a special run to get both worlds ? Well, mine sound fantastic !by Ron O'Brien : ......but the Petty is over the top. I really like the sound of the hotter toasters on the TP.
I use the Boss CS 3 with tone control - as you said : lots of sustain !The TP sounds awesome with compression (I run my RIC 12's thru an MXR M-132 Supercomp, Dunlop Manufacturing)...imparts loads of sustain.
Did you try the TI flats by now ? I just put these on, like on my 12V64 and 380L/12, they have this punchy "clong" , especially on the bass strings, and jangly in the highs. The Ric strings feel a little soft to me with intonation problems especially on the first three frets with the bass strings, but maybe I'm just fretting too hard.Right now I have RIC compressed wound strings on my TP. I'd like to try the Thomastik flatwounds next string change.
