You'll be happy to know Greg, that Anton Cook is slated to be our drum machine for the day. I believe that Craig C. has also invited a bassist/drummer friend of his.

I think you could have added "Likely Enjoyable" to the title, then its acronym would have been ORACLE ... :D

I wish I could make it, but I will anxiously await pictures and tales of daring-do ... ummmm, well, at least tales of the event! I know you guys will ROLMH (Rock Out Like Motorhead)! :D

I think in this case it would be appropriate to say: ROLRB (Randy Bachman)! :D

Actually Jeff, at the last confluence we had David Love drop by ( http://www.davidlovemusic.com/ ). David has been a guitarist for Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings and is a Rickenbacker fan to boot!

That would be cool if he came by again!

I have a Randy Bachman connection too.

About three years back on his CBC radio show VINAL TAP, he did a program on "Bands that sound like the Beatles", he played about 20 songs many of which I had never heard before... He said in the show, if you know of any other bands that sounds like the Beatles, write me and we will do another show on this"...

I took him up on this! I wrote him a ten page letter and gave him 30 songs by different groups that sound like the Beatles, and even burned him 2 CD's of the songs so that he could hear them too.

I was driving taxi at the time, and that Saturday night (Feb 25, 06) I was working and listening to the program, as I always do. DOLLY by LIverpool started the show... He ended up doing a whole 2 hour show on the songs that I had sent him. And he credited me - he kept talking about "Brian the Taxi Driver in Hamilton" the whole time.

At one point during the show he said "if you are driving in Brian's taxi tonight... The ride is free!!" and the two guys in the back started to jump up and down as though they had won a contest... (When I wrote RB, I told him that he owed me $12 for that little quip)...

I wasn't able to tape the show as I was working! So alas it is gone forever now...
Here are the songs he played that night, most of which came from me..

Deface The Music is one of my classic favorites, it was Todd Rundgren's answer to The Rutles. 8)

But where's Harry Nilsson on this list?

I thought it was possibly the worst album of that year. I bought it for the cover and the pun. It's in mint condition, having been played maybe three times total before I shelved it.

Or Emitt Rhodes??

I'd have thought Randy would have remembered Badfinger and Knickerbockers.

Hey I LIKE Deface the Music!! Listen to the RIC 12 string on THAT'S NOT RIGHT... Ah well I guess there is the matter of individual taste... :D :D

Nillson I don't know much of his music beyond his cover of Badfinger's WITHOUT YOU, or his wonderful animated musical THE POINT. I know that he was a good freind to Lennon during his year long "lost weekend" in LA..

Bachman did play a few Knickerbocker songs on the first "Beatles Sound-alike" show, just not LIES which I think of as the greatest Beatle sounding track not by the Beatles ever! The lead singer nails Lennon's snarl.

One last note. I was at the CBC taping of the TV special "BACHMAN - CUMMINGS FIRST TIME AROUND" and I did see David Love playing his RIC that night.

Harry was close with all the Beatles. His biggest hit was "One", also covered by Three Dog Night.

Here's a link to Harry's Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Nilsson

I've had a huge soft spot/sweet tooth for Todd Rundgren ever since "Hello, It's Me". Todd is God.
