LDRs suck. I know. I spent the better part of three years dealing with that before getting where I'm at now.

Good luck with that. SF isn't the only place to be though, just so long as you're together.

I guess JD and I have a kind of deal: when we're rich, I'm gonna have all the guitars I want and he'll have all the computer gear that he wants. And we'll need a bigger boat to keep it all. And what about Tripper? He lacks for nothing already spoiled mutt.

I guess I have this one a little easier than some.

My Wife, the lovely Jennifer, plays bass (a '73 Ric by the way) and keyboards - that's how we met, so my guitar mania doesn't bother her so much, as long as I don't have them out all over the place!

My husband is actually the one who started me on this crazy hobby.... He bought me my first Rickenbacker, a very well-used and finish-checked 330, as an anniversary present a few years back, after telling me for a long time how wonderful Rickenbackers are. Although he is not really a musician, he owned and played around with a mapleglo 4001 a bit when he was in college. Anyway, when I got that first Ric, I was totally overwhelmed and instantly in love with that guitar--I just couldn't stop playing it! And then a few months later a 330/12 arrived, and then my sweet vintage 1967 365, and later another Ric, and then another.... I would say my husband has been extremely supportive of my hobby, as he is a collector by nature anyway. Now that my collection is up to 19 Rickenbackers, I've told him that I really don't need another electric guitar, but I am currently wanting a couple more acoustics, although the current economy is really not very conducive to buying more guitars!

I had thought it was meant to be *that* gas too since the acronyms here aren't easily identified a lot of times.

When it was in this subforum, I thought for sure it had to be about flatulence of some sort or some other personal issue/hygiene/etc.

Maybe I should start an acronym thread in the Rickenbacker General forum since I read some of these marvelous threads and have to dissect some of the posts, especially when it comes to models and their acronyms.

Maybe I'm just slow though.

Don't worry, Scott, we're all bozos on this bus, as they say of course I made a pun to draw people in. But I was confident that we're all above hygiene jokes here Yeah, right.

But there is a list, at least regarding Rick models and their various appointments and styles. I've seen it here, perhaps a search may prove fruitful. GAS is more universal as I've seen it in lots of places. The terminology is a little daunting at first but if you hang around long enough it starts to make sense, even to me.

Thanks Kira. I'm used to acronyms in everything I've ever done but some of these are just a little non-informative. GAS was easy and a lot of the colloquiallism type ones aren't difficult. It's the ones for models (like RM 1999) which were a bit difficult.

I figured RM out, BTW. I'll see if I can find that list a little later on.

My better half is, well, tolerant. Maybe. Sometimes. The question that comes up most often is, how many of these do you need? Each additional purchase is a little tougher than the previous one. Hence, I'm working on a way for UPS to meet me at the corner. I haven't figured out what to do after that though. Other than stand on the corner with a large box.

My mom lives with me and other than one incident last fall, she has been very tolerant of my GAS/RAS. In fact, she has given me three of my eleven guitars as Christmas presents. They include the '96 Strat (12-25-96), the '96 1997 (12-25-99), and the '08 660/12 (12-25-08).
