I ordered one from Old Boise Guitar in 1999. I paid $1,295.00 for it back then. I ordered it in Mapleglo.
Yes, they were available in the USA as well, and John Hall has verified this in previous posts. The SKU number wasn't common knowledge among all dealers, and the more savvy dealers ordered them for domestic customers.
There was a 1995 4001V63 LH on ebay a while back in Mapleglo that had the warranty card still with it.....the card read "4001V63 LH, PMC headstock option"........I personally liked the look of this one better than my '99 FG, the edges were a little sharper.
The '99 PMC model, however, was IMHO an actual model only one way.....the mid 90's bass was a lefty V63 with a headstock option. YMMV.

What would one expect to pay for a PMC nowadays?

So, Gerry, in essence, the PMC was a flipped headstock leftie V63? And this could be the transitional model (at least for lefties) between the V63 and the C64, eh? Interesting. Anybody know of any outside of 1999 production dates?
Paul B, Leftybass's pic demonstrates the look best. The righthanded neck on the Lefty body. Just as Paul's was.
Paul's bass DA 23 was made at relatively short notice. FC Hall saw an opportunity and had the bass made quickly. Rick had never made a LH bass before this one so they made it from available parts hence the RH neck "flipped over" to go on a LH body. The only odd part they had to make was the TRC.
A V63 lefty has the true mirror image LH headstock.
The PMC were well before the C series and ceased availability for ordering at the same time as the V's were to make way for the C. So no, I wouldn't consider it a transitional model, more likely a response to the amount of enquiries/requests coming from the Japanese market. Dates possibly 1996 to end of 1999.
JH may offer a more detailed response but that's how I recall it.

Elderly sold one for $2400 back in January. It was on their site for a couple of months I think. I called them to buy it, but it was gone...
