I very oftem mix a JangleBox on the neck/bridge circuit with a normal signal on the mid pickup circuit. Sometimes also a chorus or reverb pedal or tremolo on one side (I don't use much overdrive on twelves). The sixth knob on the middle pickup lets me dial in as much unaltered tone as desired into the mix and the knob to adjust it is right there in easy reach on the pickguard. Works quite well. My 360/12 is rigged similarly, but uses both output jacks at once and a double Y cord or two cords.

I started doing this on some of my basses in 1972 and it generates some tones that you simply can't get with a single, mono output. Back in those days, most of our amps (Fender Twins, Super Reverbs, Bassmen, Bandmasters, Acoustic Control Corp. amps, some Sunns, etc.) were dual-channel heads. These days they aren't as common on new amp designs (especially bass amps) so it gets more complicated if you aren't interested in dragging a second amp around. When recording, I always use two tracks for bass and two for the twelves. It gives greater adjustability later when you mix the tune.
