Kind of ironic that yesteryear's budget guitars (Danos, Supros etc) are now "collectible". For the low winning bid on that Airline, you could probably find a slightly abused 620...

I think that was a pretty good price.

I expected it to go for more. Not really my cup of tea but cool nontheless.

Yeah, but much as I like Rics, I'd still buy the Airline......the 620 isn't going to be rare and collectible anytime soon.

"Collectible": colloquial description of an item for which the high market value has no relationship with said item's quality or utility.

Along with "classic".

Besides this Forum and the RIC forum, I write on a couple of topics for AllExperts.com. One-of course, is guitars. The other is classic cars. Ouch. I specifically say on my home page what I focus on:

"Most questions involving vintage car restoration, mechanical and body, paint and upholstery. Parts sourcing. Extensive experience in wood-bodied station wagons, British and French cars of the '40s through '70s. Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, Sunbeam Alpine and Tiger, Citroen Maserati, VW Beetle, 1955-65 Chevrolet (especially Nomad station wagons), Corvair."

Still, I get questions from folks asking where to get their '86 Volvo tuned up, or asking why the door doesn't close on a '82 Impala...

"Classic" has come to mean "anything on which all the payments have been made".
