It is a beauty! Now if we could just get Mike to bring it up to SCARF or a mini confluence-jam.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

That fretboard caught my eye too, with it's lovely dark hue. Real nice dark rosewood, which you tend to see more on the 60's models, and with those inlays, looking quite special imo...

similar situation - a MG in need of cosmetic repair. well, acutally started life as a JG and was subjected to a poor re-fin attempt:thb_bassman wrote:Yep...but having been away for a while, what's the story on that beauty of yours? Nicely done and sweeeeeeet!brycycle wrote:it was THAT bass?!

I thought I was being original when I asked Paul to refin my '72 in a nice dark autumnglo ... looks like I'm the last one at the party though mine's in progress.
Mine does have one little feature to set it apart from these though.
Lookin' good, guys.

Re: Wish I had it back now...
Thanks for the good words, guys. I forgot to mention; Dale told me that for about an extra $100, a person could special order a 4001 in the early 1970s with this color.
So, not slamming collectors at all, but in my humble point of view and only as far as my bass: it is not the original factory paint job, but it was an available color option of the period, and when performed by a guy who worked there during the period (and is still proud of that) and does great work which can be verified any time any place, so to speak, I say: "original schmoriginal"...
And Joey, there may be time in my life when I could attend such a gathering, but unfortunately now is not that time. I would like to meet some of you mugs.

That looks great, Mike! Congrats!
I wish I had the $'s to get my '71 spruced up.

That looks great, Mike. Great save. Thanks for the pics.
And yours also looks great, Bryce.
It's so cool that we have these talented luthiers that are able to restore great old instruments such as these.
