Hmmm... one last question!

What would this guitar sound like through a Vox Ac30cc with Master at 10 and TB Channel at 6?

I wish I could just go play one!

Would it be good/bad?

I had Played mine through my AC30 but not with the master at 10, I had the master up about 3/4 - and the guitar had a good sound - Paul Revere and The Raiders style songs were great there. Sorry this was not too much help. Just sold my AC 30 also.

Brian Jones used his Teardrop through a AC-30 exclusively. Listen to songs from "12X5" and "Rolling Stones, NOW!" ("Around and Around", "It's All Over Now", "Heart of Stone", "Little Red Rooster") to get an idea of how a Teardrop and a AC-30 would sound together.

Yea.. but that was a 60's AC30 and Teardrop.. both made in the UK.

(My AC30 is made in China and the Teardrop body is from india and assembled in Oregon)

It's gonna sound "different" no matter what.

They are great players, and they have a good clear tone. And they look great. I think the owner of PGW is named Jack Charles.

Actully, His real name is Jack "Charles" Meussdorffer. Charles is his middle name (I think), Jack Charles was his stage name in quarterflash. I have known him since high school, as we played shows with his then band Sand.

Quarterflash was originally known as Seafood Mama, and had a completly different line up, until the "harden my Heart" got airplay, and they were signed. thats when Jack (and the other ringers) were hired to tour, in support of the record as per the record company. Lots of bad blood at the time, locally about that move. The only orginal members at that time were Marv and Rindy Ross. A little Oregon music history for you all.

the guitars and basses are cool though.

Great price, I'm not surprised to see it go. Those are pretty damn good guitars for the money.

I got a new Vintage White Teardrop yesterday and promptly played at a show last night!

Sounds AWESOME... and I didn't find it sounded weird at all with overdrive (although I got the alnico pickups).

I think the Phantom Guitar Works guitars sound a lot like the old Voxes; Jack Charles reverse engineered his guitars from Voxes, including the electronics and pickups, IIRC. At the company website there was, of not still is, a longstanding offer to buy any Vox guitar in any condition. Collin's description of his Phantom sounds a lot like the performance of my Vox Teardrops. The cool thing is that Phantom's offered models with humbuckers as well: http://www.phantomguitars.com/

Yeah, I'll be the first to say----they are damn better playing guitars than original (Eko-Italian) Vox guitars. Like, I dig the collectibility and originality of a Vox, but they were simply dreadful guitars---baseball bat necks and cheap pickups/materials.

PGW has done them justice, for sure. Modernized and useable.

Ugh; I had a solidbody teardrop bass once upon a time that I couldn't play for more than one or two songs because of the baseball bat neck. The hollowbody bass necks were quite nice though, as is the neck on my teardrop hollowbody 12-definitely not a baseball bat. I think the necks are different between the solid and hollow body Voxes. The pickups are quite thin sounding though; I usually use either the neck pickup, middle p/up, or else move the selector half way between the neck and middle for that "out of phase" sound-I probably use that one the most.

Jack's guitars (pickups, etc) are based off the JMI English models.. not the Italian models.. so that explains a little.

When I was talking to him about the custom models he let me in on this: The Custom HB equipped Hollowbodys are actually the same overall size as the solid bodies (aka longer and less squat). So they're kinda their own thing! Pretty cool!

It rules!

AC30 and Twin Reverb. The Twin was pushed with a Zinky Master Blaster Clean Boost (at all times) and the AC30 was dimed to be pretty aggressive.

Other pedals were Fender Blender, Fuzz Factory and RC booster (with the gain up a bit).

The guitar DEF sounds like a Vox!

With all those pedals, I'll bet it could sound like a bus, too!

Or a flute!...
