Re: NEWLY-FINISHED PROJECT...
Wow! That is the coolest-looking acoustic bass I have ever seen.... another stunning masterpiece from the Curmudge!

Re: NEWLY-FINISHED PROJECT...
another stunning creation! i like the juxtaposition of the 60's elements (wide center strip on the neck, fwi, gold trc) with the updated items (the sperzels look really nice on there). also,i like your patio view!
Re: NEWLY-FINISHED PROJECT...
That is just wonderful, Paul. I guess I had better start writing and recording that hit song so I can order one of your masterpieces. How's that for RAS setting in?

What an awesome looking piece. I would love to hear sound clips from it. Better yet, I think I need to see that one in person.
Guess that's the very first Rickenbacker acoustic bass guitar, no?

So you're saying that it sounds as good as it looks?jingle_jangle wrote:... The tone, acoustically speaking is crisp and authoritative. But when it's amped, it really comes into its own--the dual element pickup gives a choice of stereo output or mono, with an adjustable balance between the upper and lower piezos. Upper, under-saddle gives a nice growly treble tone, and the lower, under bridge plate, is a lovely mellower timbre, but without a trace of mud. ...
Congratulations Andy!

Re: NEWLY-FINISHED PROJECT...
So, does something like this get an official RIC model number? When you built this, did you have to get any sort of approval from RIC, or, being that you are the official builder for all acoustic Ricks, do you have complete freedom in what you decide to build? Just curious...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: NEWLY-FINISHED PROJECT...
Well, i wasn't expecting this!
Just gorgeous!!
Masterpiece is the word i would use too.

Re: NEWLY-FINISHED PROJECT...
I do not have "complete" freedom on acoustics, CJ; I can build flat-tops only. RIC has decided to retain the manufacturing rights to the arch-topped Jazz-Bo, although JH was quite kind to permit me to build one for myself.cjj wrote:So, does something like this get an official RIC model number? There are two more basses like this in the works: One for JH, and one for myself.
Now that this development project is out of the way, I've got a traditional nylon-stringed Rickenbacker classical in the works, with all-new construction details (designed at RIC, not by me). I'm sure JH will give this one a new model #.
Re: NEWLY-FINISHED PROJECT...
You might have rushed it a bit Paul--looks like you forgot two strings....
Seriously, beautiful looking instrument.

Re: NEWLY-FINISHED PROJECT...
Is this bass a commercially available bass?
Re: NEWLY-FINISHED PROJECT...
No, I believe you'd have to order one from Paul. You're seeing here the first and only one that there is.rikk wrote:Is this bass a commercially available bass?
