well,i did buy that bass in a shop in memphis,which is slap dab nexta missussupupi,so who knows? anyway,glad ya got them,and kudos for the networking that made it happen!

now i'm really curious who had those pickups all these years (bought the bass what about 13-14 years ago (it came with s.d.'s)!?

It wouldn't surprise me if they sat for sale in a glass case for 10 years, or longer. And that "$15" really kills me!

Those are indeed the genuine article. Congrats! You are not missing any wires. The treble pickup has an extra coil not found (or perhaps not wired) on the neck pickup. Both of Dave's pickups have the low impedance leads hence the wire count difference.
