My '98 V63 had a very big neck, but then most of the '73s I've played (my 4000 being the exception) have had necks ranging from chunky to very big too, much bigger than the '72s and earlier I've played. As a rule of thumb the later V63s I've played have much bigger necks than the early ones (as do the CSs).

With regards to electronics, I agree with Dane; none of my Vs/CSs have had original 60s spec.

Well that's interesting. My '72 neck (June, with skunk stripe) is much larger than my '73 neck (July). They're both great necks, but the '72 is stronger and substantially larger. I was surprised when I got it, because it's like a late 90's/early 2000's neck.

And about the electronics on the C64 vs the V63...Both of my V63's ('92 and '98) did not have the bass-cut capacitor in the circuit whereas my C64S ('03) did.

Well if there's one thing we know about Rics, it's that consistency was never a strong point.....all the 72s I've played have had sort of relatively wide/flat necks, whereas the 73s have been very full and round, much bulkier in the hand.

My March '73 4001 has a slim and narrow neck; the '67 4005WB had a neck that was wider but thinner front to back than the 4001; the 4001V63 I had was just the very slightest bit larger, but felt virtually the same as the 4001. More details are in the Girth XL file.
