O.K., I know in my previous post I sounded a bit jaded when I said that while I really like my basses, they are "tools of the trade" & I try not to get too attatched to any them, but that was before today.... Today, my new (warranty replacement) 4004Cii MG arrived, and it is the finest example of a 4004Cii that I have ever seen! The neck is made from the same curly maple as the body, and the top, back and neck are incredibly flamed and figured. Mr. Ben Hall personally oversaw production of this bass, and you can immediately see that it recieved special attention and the Master's touch. What a superb and sublime instrument! Thank you Ben, for the great customer service, and thank you to everyone at Rickenbacker for going above & beyond my wildest expectations when crafting my new bass.

Yes, definitely need some pics of that 4004Cii! I thought mine was pretty good with it's flames, but to have a flamed/curly neck would really finish it off. :D

Cjj, I don't know if anyone can beat the top on your 4004 - that is an exceptional one, but the neck on mine is amazing. Btw, you lucked out & beat me to that bass by a matter of hours - I check Wildwood every day & was going to grab that bass the next day after I saw it, but you beat me to the punch. Things worked out the way they were sopposed to though, and I absolutely love my new Cheyenne. I love the mods you did to yours, and especially that you kept the appearance clean & tidy. I'm new to this photobucket/picture posting thing, but I'll take some pics of mine today & post links or pictures once I can wrap my mind around the process.

Actually, you never had a chance on that one. I was talking to them about another one they had up on the site and the guy I was talking to said they had another one they had just gotten in. He said it was even nicer than what was on the website. He sent me some pictures, holding it for me until I told him whether I wanted it or not. Somewhere during this time it was put up on their site, but I'd already bought it by then...

Oh, and here on the RRF you don't have to put your pictures on photobucket or the like. You can just upload them directly from your computer. The only issue is possibly size, it they're too big, you have to have something to resize them.

I must have looked at & played 5 Cheyennes that weekend - I thought yours was one of them. Thanks for the picture-posting tips.

Ah, that's different. I didn't know you were actually in the store. It's possible you could have played it there, all I know is that it wasn't on their website. From what he said, it sounded like it hadn't been opened and looked at yet, but I suppose I could have been misinterpreting his meaning and it was just he who hadn't seen it yet.

Ok, before this escalates into some kind of bass competition, you should BOTH send me your basses just so we can avoid any conflicts here on RRF.

Ok, here she is. My little camera just can't quite capture the flame in all it's glory, but you can see the figured peghead and neck & get the idea. This one has a lot of the 3-D thing going on with the flame - it goes in and out and shifts depending the light and viewing angle. Enjoy!
