There are a couple of DVDs with George on them that I'd like to acquire; Concert for Bangladesh is one of them, the other is the School for Rockabilly with Carl Perkins. That may not be the correct title of the latter one, but you know which one I mean.

Kira, I didn't doubt you, but you were right. I LOVED IT!!!

I was up at 8:00am to watch it, because I got in late last night after seeing a play, and I was tired out. I spent two whole hours enjoying it.

Ravi Shankar's music was peaceful, and helped my religious mother meditate.

Ringo seemed happy to be performing. It must have helped him out that Jim Keltner was there, especially during "It Don't Come Easy", because Jim could do all the great fills and whatnot that Ringo couldn't do because he had his hands full singing.

Billy Preston won me over during "That's the Way God Planned It" and he seemed to having a great time jumping around the stage dancing. He's an artist I feel I should get into. Especially that he's worked with The Beatles and The Stones.

George's performances (all of them) were great. Eric Clapton's solo for "Guitar Gently Weeps" was pitiful, as based on the video that started this thread. He needed a 22-fret guitar for that song, and the Byrdland was probably all he had (still wonder why he couldn't have picked up George's backup to his Strat Gibson Les Paul, as George never even touched it). It was

Leon Russell's interesting medley of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "Young Blood" (George and Ringo probably remembered playing frequently in the Beatles' Cavern days) was just beyond awesome.

The artist who won me over, though, was Bob Dylan. He performed two of my favorite songs of his, "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" and "Just Like a Woman", which was great. It was this show, that when other people performed with Bob, anything could happen (such as Bob would change the key/tempo/etc). Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers would end up learning that in 1986 when they backed him up.

Overall, a great show, a great lineup of artists and more importantly, worth the money I paid for it!

Thanks for recommending this to me, Kira :)

Jim, I think the one you're looking for is "Blue Suede Shoes: A Rockabilly Session". I'm pretty sure that the 2006 version has remastered 5.1 sound as well. It's available at amazon...
