one thing is certain: there is no consistency at Gretsch, I guess they are experimenting to see what sells.

my favorite model is the 6770CG-BGF-132765983E23DF-DS-V65-U67-H

I can't say enough about the tone of these supertrons from tv jones. If you haven't tried them in a gretsch that has filtertrons, try these as the replacement pickup, you guys will love them. I got the idea watching a chet atkins video where he plays a 1958 country gent with 2 of the gretsch supertrons in it. I got these back in 2005 when tv jones added these to the line. He told me, at that point, on the phone he had some extra coils on the bench as he had just made some for billy gibbions and bryan setzer. I immediately said yes tommy go ahead and make me a set. He also made me a custom harness which I installed. This 6120 is a copy of a 1955 block inlay gretsch. When I bought it I already knew that the original pickups and harness had to go. This gretsch turned into a tone machine. By the way, when the pickups arrived they were labeled proto type signed and dated. Thanks Ron :D

TV Jones produces Filter'tron pickups that are direct replacements for the Gretsch version. They are also OEM on high end gretsches

thanks! do they sound better than original 1960's Gretsch pickups? or is it an issue of more power delivery?

Tv jones pickups come on some high end gretsches as std equipment. Big improvement over the std gretsch pickups. Here is the link. As far as sound compared to the original 60s pickups, the answer is yes, they do sound better. He does his homework before producing any reproduction gretsch pickup in his line.
