yep,and since i 've had all the work done,and the new old strings put on,the keys are gonna stay on,too!

they look original kluson, but on all the ricks i've owned or seen they were slotted. those are cool...i'd keep 'em.

The tuners on the first 4000 basses from the late '50 were like these, Ron, with the side hole and not slotted, so we think these tuners are that of vintage that ended up on this bass.

the '50's tuners had a larger diameter post. the ones posted are like the mid to late '60's or post '73 style, just not slotted.

i think ron is probably right,from the pix i have seen of 50's models,the tuning posts look larger in diameter than mine. again,mine work great,i just hate it when i changed strings,which is only every 3 or 4 years or so anyway. the strings i have on there now are staying indefinitely-they are the best set of flatwound strings i've ever had on a bass.....
