DJ's talking until the vocals began on the records and interrupting the end was the single most irritating thing about AM radio that I can think of.

I remember my first day on the radio. About halfway through my show, a caller, who didn't identity himself, (but I think he was someone in charge) berated me for NOT talking over the intro and extros of songs. He said I'd sound more professional. Well I thought people listened to my show for the music, not for me to talk all over the songs. I still do some radio today, but don't talk over the records too much. Sometimes if I have a lot to say, I'll put a background track on, but that's it.

Not only the disc jokey chatter that's annoying, but some radio stations still cut out parts of songs and increase the speed of the song to get it over with faster to more songs, commercials and yapping between songs done in a certain period of time. I thought that since records and tapes were gone from radio stations, there wouldn't be anymore speeding up of songs. However there is one So Cal radio station that still does that. It drives me nuts to hear the pitch of the song being sharp. :x

Of course, in this new digital world, there's no reason to change the pitch if you want to increase the speed...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Right, that why I'm surprised at this particular radio station. They must not have kept up with technology!
