Are those the original keywinds?
Yes they look like the original keywinds as all 4002 had this type rather than the ones you see on 4003s.

And US$ 29800 for an original 4000? Scary but I wonder if it might not be too far off -didn't a mint '64 4001 go for nearly $25000 a couple of years ago?

That was the asking price Phil. I think the sale price was lower.

A beauty it is indeed... This struck me as strange for a 4002 bass:
Tremolo mechanism cleaning and adjustment.
Tested using a very early MESA BOOGIE amp.
It´s in the auction for the 4000 as well. I know it´s nothing big but if I were in a position of shelling out that kind of money I´d expect a listing to be as convincing and flawless as possible...

And they are both back. "Back to the collection," huh? Okay, not for long, I guess! Maybe they own stock in eBay.

Possibly the most "FOS" listing we've seen...

One can't help but notice that he hasn't got a single bid on any guitar he's got up for auction right now.
I particularly like the $45K he's asking for a Mosrite bass. Makes the 4002 seem almost affordable doesn't it ?
Also makes me remember walking past several 4002's hanging on the wall of a music shop in the UK for about $500 a pop in the early 80's around the time I was using my original '79 jetglo. Maybe I'll get one later I thought. Later that year I sold my jetglo 4005 for the equivalent of about $350, because I'm that much of an idiot.
Oh for that time machine. I built one to the Calvin and Hobbes spec, but it doesn't seem to work.

And it's back, only one week, then back to the collection again with no second chances (again)...
